THE POSITION
Reporting to the Senior Director of Academic Support, this specific position serves to enhance the teaching, learning, and assessing of literacy in order to improve student achievement.
A Bridge Boston Charter School Literacy Interventionist (grades K2-8) can expect to:
- Provide targeted, data-driven literacy instruction primarily to Tier 2 and Tier 3 students
- Literacy intervention includes foundational reading skills, reading fluency, reading comprehension, vocabulary usage, writing, etc.
- Collaborate with the Senior Director of Academic Support, the ILT, and K2-8 lead teachers to identify students in need of targeted literacy interventions
- Deliver literacy interventions using research based strategies and materials
- Regularly progress monitor and assess literacy growth among the targeted students, adjusting course as necessary
- Collect, share and analyze data in collaboration with relevant stakeholders for each student who is targeted for literacy intervention
- Attend and participate in required MTSS meetings for students who are identified for and receiving literacy interventions
- Collaborate with the ILT and Literacy Task Force on school-wide professional development initiatives that foster strong literacy development
- Provide leadership on school-wide literacy initiatives, including assisting teachers in maintaining effective classroom libraries
- Deliver PD, as needed, to teachers on small group literacy instruction and assessments
- Perform other duties as assigned to assist with overall school culture and operations
- Facilitate DIBELS Benchmarks for all students in grades K2-6, including biweekly progress monitoring for all K2-3 students and those scoring below Benchmark in grades 4-6
- Build educator capacity with and deliver instruction using programs such as Just Words, Flyleaf, and High Noon to qualifying students, possibly including SWD
QUALIFICATIONS
- BA required
- 5+ years of teaching and/or coaching experience in a similar setting preferred
- Relevant Massachusetts Provisional, Initial, or Professional teaching certification
- Sheltered English Immersion endorsement
- Demonstrated cultural competence and sensitivity; belief in the value of diversity
- Clear willingness to make and learn from mistakes
