OVERVIEW
Bridge Boston Charter School is a tuition-free, K1-8 public school serving 335 students in Roxbury, Massachusetts, and the surrounding community– many of whom have experienced social, emotional, and developmental barriers to learning. Bridge Boston’s robust social-emotional program is designed with an eye to supporting students who have experienced trauma in their homes and communities.

THE POSITION
We are seeking a School Social Worker under the Director of Student Support to help students and families make the best use of available opportunities and resources and to fully develop each student's individual potential. The School Social Worker will provide an understanding of the psychosocial development of children and the influences of family, community, and cultural differences as they interact with the educational process. Further, the School Social Worker will also provide the necessary professional skills to assist students and communities in problem-solving and conflict resolution in a safe and healthy manner.
Specifically, they will be responsible for:
- Provide counseling and crisis intervention as indicated by need of student, teacher or district
- Responsible for gathering information and filing 51A reports in collaboration with school staff
- Provide clinical guidance during and participate in the pre- referral process of special education
- Write counseling IEP goals, progress reports, and annual review reports
- Attend IEP meetings as needed
- Participate in all Student Support and Social Work Team meetings
- Provide climate and culture support to teachers in developing and maintaining safe, welcoming, nurturing, inclusive and enriching environments
- Possess a strong background in developing emotional regulation skills in young students, both through individual and small group counseling, and through embedded, curriculum-based strategies that can be used in the classroom
- Implement and maintain an inclusive model of service delivery through cooperation, collaboration, and partnerships with administrators, teachers, therapists, parents, and students.
- Provide ongoing consultation to administrators, teachers, and other professionals to assist them in meeting students' social, emotional and academic needs
- Participate in a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) by working collaboratively with other school professionals to analyze data, determine effective interventions, and progress monitor the effectiveness of such interventions
- Demonstrate the ability to assess and interpret maladaptive school behavior and recommend interventions, treatment and school-based intervention as needed
- Consults in the development of behavioral intervention plans with school staff
- Create and implement attendance intervention plans with students identified by the Student Support Team
- Manage a caseload of 504 students
- Create and manage effective communication with parents and community based organizations
- Make referrals, coordinate, and maintain outreach to parents and outside agencies to address mental health needs
- Provide culturally competent services
QUALIFICATIONS
- Masters in Social Work, LCSW, LICSW, LMHC and/or DESE School Social Worker/Adjustment Counselor licensure
- At least 2 years of experience as a school social worker or in a clinical setting preferred
- Prior experience with elementary-aged children and adolescents of diverse demographics preferred
- Excellent organization skills, and superior written and verbal communication
- Ability to focus and thrive in a fast paced environment and when responding to crises
- Strong familiarity with the local community based resources
- Bilingual candidates strongly preferred (Spanish, Haitian Creole, Cape Verdean Creole, etc)
