OVERVIEW

Bridge Boston Charter School is a tuition-free, K1-8 public school serving 335 students in Roxbury, Massachusetts, and the surrounding community– many of whom have experienced social, emotional, and developmental barriers to learning. Bridge Boston’s robust social-emotional program is designed with an eye to supporting students who have experienced trauma in their homes and communities.

THE POSITION

Reporting to the Senior Director of Operations & Extended Day. The staff member will serve as an advisor for a group of students and fulfill all regular duties and commitments required of Bridge Boston staff.

Specifically, they will be responsible for:

General Administrative Support

  • Assist at reception as needed, including receiving visitors and managing student arrival and dismissal procedures.
  • Handle phone, fax, mail, and online inquiries professionally and efficiently.
  • Maintain and oversee printer and copier functionality to ensure operational efficiency.

Safety & Emergency Preparedness

  • Schedule and communicate planned drills (fire, evacuation) with staff.
  • Maintain updated emergency binders and ensure all fire and evacuation plans are properly documented.

Student & Academic Support

  • Support student activities, including arrival and dismissal duties.
  • Print and collate report cards and progress reports for conferences and mailing.

Data Entry & Records Management

  • Enter and organize required enrollment forms from families.
  • Maintain and update student files, ensuring compliance with record-keeping policies.
  • Assist with student lottery and enrollment processes.

Purchasing & Inventory Management

  • Assist with ordering and maintaining general office and facility supplies.
  • Proactively monitor inventory and ensure supply budgets are maintained.
  • Keep communal storage areas (staff rooms, workspaces, and facilities) organized.
  • Conduct weekly inventory checks and place orders for office supplies as needed.

Transportation Coordination

  • Maintain up-to-date bus route and roster information in clear, organized systems (electronic and hard copy).
  • Ensure accurate daily dismissal plans are completed and distributed.
  • Enforce transportation safety rules and procedures.

Events & Special Activities

  • Support the planning and execution of school-wide events, including concerts, parent-teacher conferences, family-administrator dinners, orientations, staff events, and Field Day.

Other Duties

  • Perform additional tasks as assigned within the scope of this role.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Communication: Strong ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences, including students, parents/guardians, and staff.
  • Problem-Solving: Adaptive, flexible, and resourceful in addressing challenges.
  • Cultural Competency: Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with demonstrated cultural competence and sensitivity.
  • Teamwork: Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Language Skills: Bilingual in Spanish, Haitian Creole, or Cape Verdean Creole is highly desirable.
