ELL Instruction & Student Support
- Deliver engaging, standards-based instruction aligned with the curriculum to ensure students meet or exceed academic expectations.
- Provide targeted language acquisition instruction focused on reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
- Provide language acquisition instruction, focused on Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Listening proficiency, in alignment with WIDA standards and ACCESS expectations
- Adapt curriculum and develop data-driven lesson plans, including small group interventions within the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).
- Collaborate with grade-level teams, general and special education teachers, and ELL staff to support student learning and progress.
- Monitor and report on student progress, implementing interventions as needed to ensure growth.
- Maintain proactive communication with families, providing updates on student learning and strategies for support.
Classroom Culture & School Engagement
- Establish and maintain high expectations for student behavior, fostering a positive and productive learning environment.
- Implement school-wide behavior systems, including restorative practices, JAGUAR Values, Paw Points, and the Behavior Matrix.
- Supervise students during transitions and out-of-class activities to ensure a safe and respectful school culture.
Professional Growth & Responsibilities
- Engage in school-wide professional development, coaching, and feedback with a growth mindset.
- Communicate constructively with colleagues and supervisors to enhance the overall school experience.
- Complete administrative responsibilities such as attendance, behavior, and academic reports in a timely manner.
- Participate in required family engagement activities, including curriculum nights, conferences, and cultural events.
- Adhere to all school policies as outlined in the Staff and Employee Handbook.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; relevant graduate coursework preferred.
- 2-3 years of teaching experience in a similar setting preferred.
- Massachusetts ESL teaching certification (Provisional, Initial, or Professional) and SEI endorsement required.
- Demonstrated cultural competence and commitment to diversity.
- Bilingual proficiency preferred.
